Well...well...well everyone... I'm just back by popular demand, well...not really that popular and not by any major demand, let's just say I'm back. It's been a long while since I've written an entry so I'll just do a summary instead.

Today marks 4 months and 23 days since my dad passed away, I miss him alot since it's just not the same without him here! I didn't realize that the funeral was the easy part since doing the headstone is certainly a challenge on it's own.

I just finished watching the opening ceremony for the Hong Kong Disneyland which officially opens today September 12, 2005 - just makes me want to go there!

On July 3, 2005 - I renewed my contract with Verizon Wireless for my cellular phone and changed to a family share plan so I can add my mom to the plan. I got the Motorola E815 All Digital 800/1900Mhz phone which features Bluetooth, 1.3Megapixel camera, Voice Navigation, GPS, EVDO High Speed Data, Video On Demand, MP3 Player, among other things. So I got rid of the T-Mobile Family Plan I had for me and my mom as T-Mobile is basically Cingular Orange's network and it just doesn't work at a lot of places which is the same issue with Cingular Wireless. It pays to use something that is more reliable than the rest. Not to mention that Verizon Wireless, I can just hook up the data cable and send faxes using my minutes but with Cingular and T-Mobile, there is a extra charge. I haven't had much luck in finding a job since it seems I'm probably overqualified or they just can't afford my salary due to my education and background levels. On July 21, 2005 - I had a interview in Palo Alto for a Senior Network Performance Analyst at a Internet Performance Company. The Staffing Manager told me they would contact me by July 25, 2005 at the latest but time just passed until August 29, 2005 when I got this e-mail from the recruiting company that goes:

While your qualifications are excellent, it has been determined that there are candidates who are a better fit for this position. This is just another way of saying that my qualifications exceeds what they need and they are worried I might be jumping ship to a new job two months later.

On August 21, 2005 - I had the honor of attending my friends Karen and Ernest's wedding. Karen is a girl that I liked a lot 10 years ago. What's weird is that Karen and I met Ernest originally on the same day on June 17, 1995. The wedding was pretty cool and I just want to take this time to thank Ricky, Karen's younger and only brother for driving me all the way to the wedding and the banquet in San Jose. Wow, time sure flies. It's been over 10 years since I originally met Karen on February 10, 1995.

On September 3, 2005 - I attended the Hong Kong Vintage Pop Radio first dinner party held in San Francisco as the first stop of the HKVPRadio World Tour in celebrating the 3rd anniversary of the station. It was nice meeting Anni, the founder of HKVPRadio and 25 other persons even though everyone knows by now that I'm HKVPRadio's one and only technical support.

Yesterday, I saw something very interesting when I was reading about Audio Equipment. It's the Blue Circle Audio Music Pumps Mono Amplifiers and Music Purse Preamplifier which does show that things comes in all shapes and sizes. What's next? Speakers sewn into an Armani suit? Never underestimate today's audio designers.

The $799/pair Music Pumps are 25W single gain-stage monoblocks housed in a pair of size 11 women's dress shoes with 4" heels. The $499 Music Purse is a three-input preamplifier with 6dB gain in a fine Spanish leather matching purse. The sound according to Stereophile Magazine reviews was sweet and detailed and decidedly nothing to joke about, so apparently these pointy-toed shoes kick! The only chance of me even auditioning something like this is when I give my future wife both of these as a present even though she probably looks cute wearing the pumps which means I'll have to buy a pair of Music Pumps, Music Purse, and a another pair of regular Pumps for her.

One of my friends got the Music Pumps and Music Purse and I got to see them last week... I'll admit that I find high heel pumps sexy on a woman but I never knew that 4" heels were that high that anyone I know that would wear 4" heels would probably fall all over me...

Sometime around 4:30PM-5:20PM yesterday - April 20, 2005 - my father Wiiliam Poy () passed away. He was 96 years old. The good thing is he passed away peacefully as he wasn't able to speak or respond as normal due to Alzheimer's disease so he was sleeping and snoring in a rocking chair four feet from myself and my mom. I'm still at a loss as I have no idea what to do since after told that he was dead on arrival when my mom and I carried and wheelchaired him to the hospital 1 block away, we were next to him for the next 4 hours and ended up leaving at 9:00PM as the nurse finally put the sheets over his head. Still do not know the exact cause of death.

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Have been pretty busy but I just wanted to take this time to say this:

Reuters is now reporting that 150,000+ people are dead as a result of the South Asia/East Asia tsunami that hit countries on Boxing Day as a result of the Indian Ocean earthquake with a magnitude of 9.0 on the richter scale. The hardest hit areas are Thailand, Indonesia and Sri Lanka. There are tens of thousand of people still un-accounted for, and the real figure could be much much higher. Hundreds of thousands of people are still at serious risk from disease and they desperately need your help and support. In all, as many as five million people are without homes.

Please, spare what you can. International Aid Organizations can help make a difference. They need your donations urgently. With donations, they can help get vital supplies like clean water and drugs to the places most badly hit.

This is a tragedy on a global scale and badly needs a strong global response. I have already donated via Hong Kong's TVB (Television Broadcasts Limited) which uses your donation to 6 different charity organizations and will make another donation to the American Red Cross through Hong Kong Vintage Pop Radio.

Had been busy researching and applying for jobs... Google emailed me on August 24th saying after considering further the position and my particular areas of expertise, they have unfortunately had to conclude that there is not a good match at this time. And they hope that, in the future, a position at Google arises that will be a better fit. My resume will remain in their candidate database and I am certainly eligible for future positions. And ofcourse the entire description for the job changes as well as the qualifications required being more demanding for the job after my interview. I guess they are being too picky since the job has been listed since May 2004.

Anyways, enough of that. Something I saw interesting on the internet today:

It was a pretty busy week last week... Monday and Tuesday and even Wednesday, I was looking through the prospectus of the Google IPO but I ended up not bidding on it even though I am a registered bidder. Wednesday afternoon was my first of seven phone interviews of 30-45 minutes each for the position of Manager of Networking Operations in the Network Engineering Group at Google, Inc. The interview was done by one of the managers of the Engineering Group who treated me as if I was some networking manual asking me questions on things that I haven't used in like a dozen years that I think I probably messed up big time on this first interview even though he was lost with one of my answers too. hehe. The other thing is that on Wednesday afternoon, I was feeling so bad that when I finally read Anna's Xanga, I wasn't doing a good job of cheering her up. On Saturday morning, I met 3 of my Hong Kong Vintage Pop Radio friends in Oakland Chinatown for lunch. We went to Peony Restaurant at the Pacific Renaissance Center. The parking at the garage was a adventure in itself as we parked at one of those side spots in the Classic Volkswagen Covertibles where there was a pole in both the front and the back and the wall was on the right hand side while the drive way was on the left hand side. So we got to the Peopny Restaurant, this is a place where T-Mobile/Cingular mobile phones did not receive any signal at all while Verizon Wireless phones did get a signal but barely useable. What was weird was this is the first time everyone was using Verizon Wireless but if there was a place I had to tell Verizon Wireless that they suck, this would be the spot! We had a pretty interesting discussion especially from the two beautiful and attractive girls...

Just finished installing Windows XP Service Pack 2 on my Desktop and Notebook computers. Had to check to see which patches are not included in SP2 so I have a backup.

Notes for August 12, 2004 - at 7:00PM, I went to Verizon Wireless and bought the Motorola V710 at $319 - $100 New Every 2 Renewal Discount - $70 Mail In Rebate. The earpiece volume is a bit low and I'm still trying to find a ringer that would get my attention as when David called yesterday on Friday the 13th, I didn't even hear the ringing when the phone was next to me until I heard the loud beep of a missed call. Just not used to the ringtone I guess. Sorry David!

Nothing much to say except a few things that happened on August 11, 2004...

1) Welcome back Anna! I and others really missed you alot. Even though I don't know what happened exactly. Try to settle down and cheer up!

2) Motorola V710 CDMA Bluetooth/Speakerphone/1.2Megapixel Digital Camera CellPhone is officially out at Verizon Wireless but I haven't bought mines yet even though I get it $100 cheaper than a new customer as I'm waiting for hacks as there seems to be lots of bugs with the phone and the BlueTooth is crippled so it can't do file transfers.

3) I just signed up as a bidder for the Google Initial Public Offering of their stock even though I don't think I'll bid on it as it's $108-$138 a share.

4) Google Inc. recruiting called me today and left a message about a possible employment opportunity as the Manager of Network Operations so I'll probably call them tomorrow.

5) I'm a bit exhausted after spending the last 5 days trying to read the 8,000+ messages of forums and main pages of 50+ sites since I haven't touched them since June 8, 2004.

Nothing much new except Friday Night was a painful day... In the past when I ate rich spicy foods or have a lack of sleep, I would get pimples or fever blisters in the mouth. But for some reason since about two months ago, it's attacking gums instead and seems like a toothache but it isn't as it randomly attacks different areas of the mouth. But thank god it's over! whew! Anyways, tonight I found out a way to improve the signal on mobile phones, just wanted to be politically correct as Cellular Phones use 800Mhz while 1900Mhz is called PCS phones. You should all try this and see if it helps!

Not much happened this week besides the usual... Finally got around to actually modifying the software on my phone. I can now get it to say T-Mobile by reading the SIM card for the name of the California/Nevada network instead of reading it from the actual network towers which will say Cingular Wireless. Happy 4th of July everyone!
